. Thank you!

One Mile To Go, LLC horseback riding school is a family business created in 2021 to help people experience horses for the first time, or for the hundredth time. Our mission is to teach about caring for horses from nose to tail, both in mounted and unmounted settings. Riders will gain the skills and knowledge needed to be safe, build relationships, and have fun with these animals from our knowledgeable instructors who have years of experience!

Meet the Team

Chandra - Owner/Instructor

I have been around horses all my life.  My father was an amazing horse trainer and I was always outside learning with and from him.  It started as early as I can remember.  I have memories of being yelled at to get out of the corral as I was only about 4 and had decided I knew how to break a horse.  I was gonna help by breaking one of the horses dad had in for training.  Haha.  Fortunately for me he caught me quick and he also had worked with the horse enough to be able to tell it vocally to “woe” and it stood still so I did not get stepped on.  From that day forward it's been all about horses for me.  Always learning and trying new things.

I have trained several horses from beginning to end, and been involved with Rodeo and gymkhana events.  We also spent a lot of time traveling to small town fairs, and a few PRCA rodeo events.

I spent my pre-teen through adult years barrel racing.  I also had opportunities to compete in Cow Penning events and roping events.  We even spent a few years owning and training thoroughbred race horses.

While raising my girls (I had two) we spent a few years raising, showing and driving miniature horses, did a short stint in Pony Club and even spent 2 summers riding English.

My philosophy of horses and raising children is all the same.  My horses are almost as dear to me as my children.  They are also just as expensive.  Lol.  I treat my horses with all the love and respect that I can give them.  They also are given guidelines and rules and consequences that I consistently follow through with.  The keyword to success is CONSISTENCY!  I always use as little pressure as it takes but as much as is needed.  Horses, like children, will respond to love and consistency and discipline all in conjunction with each other.  I have always loved horses and am not sure what I would do with myself if I ever found myself in a position that I could not be involved with horses in some way.

I also love to teach and learn.  I love to share my knowledge and I love to learn more daily.  There is never only  one way to do something and there are always new and improved ways to learn.  So we are always on a road to gain more knowledge.

Horses have been a part of my life since birth. My mom was sure to expose us starting very young so we could develop a good relationship with them and learn to trust our instincts around them. My mom taught us everything from basic horse care to riding the trails and running the barrels. I took quite the hiatus from hands on horse riding starting as a teenager. Now that I am married and have two daughters, who LOVE horses, I am slowly getting around them more and more so they can grow up with them like I did. Luckily, my mom is an amazing Grammy and will teach them to ride just like she did me. At One Mile To Go, LLC I help with all the administrative work, including paperwork, marketing and social media. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to ask away! I can't wait to see the progress our students make this next season!
